What is link structure?

The internal link structure is one of the most important elements when working with a website’s structure and is also referred to as the site’s hierarchy. Landing pages intended to rank for broad and highly competitive keywords should be placed high up in the site hierarchy and given a prominent role, with as few clicks as possible from the homepage. Less important pages can be positioned further down.

With a well-designed link structure, you give search engines the best possible opportunity to find and index the site correctly. By structuring the site in an optimal way, you make it easy for a search engine such as Google to visit and crawl the website. Combined with high-quality content, this is one of the cornerstones of strong search rankings.

If you want to learn more about search engine optimization and gain a deeper understanding of the fundamentals, we recommend the book Guldläge på nätet, in which Magnus Bråth and Michael Wahlgren guide the reader through the different phases of the optimization process.
