Don’t add SEO as an afterthought once the website is built!

Magnus Bråth

Many believe SEO is something you add after the website is already live.
And sure, in many cases, SEO efforts begin once the site is up and running. But if you’re planning to switch platforms, that’s exactly when you should bring your SEO specialist on board.

Throughout my career, I’ve often been contacted by someone needing help fixing their SEO after launching a new site — usually because they’ve lost all or part of their organic traffic.
To me, it’s obvious: it’s far better to involve your SEO expert before a site rebuild, rather than after you’ve already lost your search rankings.

From an SEO perspective, managing a site migration isn’t necessarily difficult — but it does involve many moving parts. It requires experience and a solid foundation in SEO. When you specify the right SEO requirements during a platform switch, you can actually gain visibility, rather than lose it. Unfortunately, losing traffic during a migration is extremely common — and the reasons behind it aren’t always immediately clear. Sometimes, the consequences don’t become visible until much later.

Talk to an SEO professional before rebuilding your site.
You have everything to gain from it — because any major change to your website poses a risk to your search performance.
