Get to Know Bard – Google's Answer to ChatGPT

Martin Ek

The development of AI is moving rapidly, and today ChatGPT no longer sits alone on the throne as the undisputed king/queen of chatbots. There are now several serious competitors posing a threat – among them, we find Google’s own chatbot – Bard! In today’s blog post, we’ll take a closer look at Bard, which is still not available to us in Sweden.

What is Bard?

Bard is, much like ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot or virtual assistant that you can converse with. It can answer questions, help brainstorm creative ideas, write copy, translate, code in a range of different programming languages, and much more. In other words, it’s a powerful digital tool with a wide range of uses for both personal and professional purposes.

What sets Bard apart from ChatGPT?

Currently, there are a few key differences between Bard and ChatGPT:

1. Bard has access to up-to-date data, which is not the case with ChatGPT (at least not in the free version).

2. With Bard, you can easily export your chats to either Google Docs or Email.

3. Bard supports voice input, a convenient feature for smartphone users, for example.

4. Bard always provides three different suggestions (drafts) instead of just one.

When will Bard be available in Sweden?

At this point, we unfortunately don’t know when Google will lift its current restrictions and grant Sweden and the rest of Europe full access to Bard. However, it likely won’t take more than a year — and probably much less. Google is well aware of the need to act quickly in order to avoid falling too far behind and losing even more valuable market share that could be difficult to regain.

Take me to Bard.
