Today's search query: How do you handle out-of-stock products?

It’s time to tackle some e-commerce questions. In the video above, we talk about handling out-of-stock products, a question that often comes up when discussing SEO with e-commerce merchants.

Should you place your old products in a ‘graveyard,’ just remove them, or redirect them? As usual, there’s no one correct answer to that question. Every site is different, and every segment has its own characteristics, which means it’s worth giving some thought to how you handle out-of-stock products. If your product range changes completely twice a year, it may not be optimal to set up individual redirects for each product. If your products are updated a little less frequently, maybe you shouldn’t store the old ones in a graveyard, making it harder for Google to understand which product is the current one.
